Traditional nutrition information is focused on the effects of individual nutrients. For example, this is the way that nutrition is studied (one nutrient at a time), the way that the information is told to the public (as in recommended daily allowances), the way that foods are judged (as in food composition tables) and the way that nutrition is often marketed (as in nutrient supplements). This is not the way that nutrition is most effective in creating health. When nutrition is practiced as a lifestyle, as in the consumption of whole plant based foods–without adding back fat, sugar, salt and other fortifications but supplemented with proper physical activity, adequate hydration and sunshine exposure–not only are most diseases prevented but also this same diet can be used to treat (yes, treat) diseases. The results are proving to be substantial and there is nothing in medical practice that comes close to the effectiveness of this practice of creating and maintaining health.

Hormones are defined by Wikipedia as: Hormones (from Greek – “impetus”) are chemicals released by cells that affect cells in other parts of the body. Only a small amount of hormone is required to alter cell metabolism. It is also a chemical messenger that transports a signal from one cell to another. All multicellular organisms produce hormones; plant hormones are also called phytohormones.

Current research is being conducted extensively in a very broad spectrum of health fields ranging from well established treatments for rickets to new  (more…)
