In today’s show Dr. Joe teaches us that Vitamin D3 is no longer classified as a vitamin but rather a hormone.

In medical school Dr. Joe was taught that vitamin D was a fat soluble vitamin that can build up in the body to toxic levels but recent research has lead to a reclassification of this substance to that of a hormone. Hormones are defined by Wikipedia as: Hormones (from Greek – “impetus”) are chemicals released by cells that affect cells in other parts of the body. Only a small amount of hormone is required to alter cell metabolism. It is also a chemical messenger that transports a signal from one cell to another. All multicellular organisms produce hormones; plant hormones are also called phytohormones.

Modern food and beverage containers that are designed to protect us from contamination and bacterial growth according to hundreds of separate studies may be poisoning us with grave implications. This central technology that we hold sacrosanct in the food and beverage industry may be turned upside down. The chemical BPA used in plastics is documented to mimic estrogen and in fact can be equated to a stealth poison that prevents normal-healthy estrogen receptors from being able to do their job correctly. This shadow estrogen prevents naturally produced estrogen from protecting us from heart-coronary vessel disease and cancer and has even farther reaching implications.  (more…)
